Sunnyvale, Calif. – January 6, 2009 – Commtouch® (Nasdaq: CTCH) announced today the signing of 13 new OEM partners in the fourth quarter of 2008, resulting in a total of 116 OEM licensees using Commtouch messaging and/or Web security technologies. During the full year 2008, a total of 32 new OEM partners were signed.
“Signing with 13 new partners in a single quarter is an outstanding achievement,” said Gideon Mantel, Commtouch’s chief executive officer and chairman of the board. “I attribute this accomplishment to three key factors: the exceptional quality of our product offerings, our financial stability and our new multi-product strategy that combines email and Web security, turning Commtouch into a one-stop shop for OEM protection against Internet threats. As we continue to see the effect of the challenging macroeconomic condition on some of our current OEM partners, we also see a strong pipeline for early 2009.
Financial stability is becoming an essential prerequisite for new deals, as security vendors and service providers seek out business partners capable of enduring this economic downturn,” Mr. Mantel continued. “In this respect, Commtouch’s strong financial position and fiscal transparency have bolstered our ability to win competitive accounts.”
During the quarter, Commtouch signed three deals for its new GlobalView™ URL Filtering Web security product, two with new OEM partners and one with an existing partner.
“Now that we are rolling out the new web security product line, a substantial opportunity exists within our current base of OEM partners, as they look for reliable, scalable solutions from vendors they can depend on,” Mr. Mantel said. “We continually build the necessary foundation in order to execute effectively on this opportunity.”
Commtouch expects the strong Q4 2008 deal flow to begin impacting revenue in the third and fourth quarters of 2009.
